The Play School – Quality Indianapolis Child Care
The Play School is here to meet your Indianapolis child care needs from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Full-time and part-time schedules are available to accommodate your family's needs. Full-time families, who attend four or five days per week, also enjoy sibling discounts. And, all our families receive two weeks of tuition-free vacation time every year. Contact us to schedule a tour.

Full-time, Part-time and Summer Care
If you prefer a part time schedule, we are one of only a few Indianapolis child care centers offering that option for all children—ages 6 weeks to 12 years. For school-age children, we provide before- and after-school transportation during the school year and a fun-filled “4 Kidz Only Club” during the summer.
Whatever your family’s needs, we are delighted to provide an enriching experience for your child, and we hope to make your life a little easier, too. Through ongoing, open communication with you, we want to make The Play School feel like a home away from home for your child.
The Play School Mission
Since it first opened in 1988, the mission of The Play School has stayed the same:
To provide children with consistent, high quality, loving, nurturing, stimulating, and safe environments; to incorporate parents’ personal values, desires and input; to attend to each child’s unique learning characteristics and foster the development of their individuality and self esteem.

Our Brilliant Star Child Care Curriculum
An education degree and teaching career gave The Play School’s founder, Rita Hafner, the knowledge and experience she needed to start a successful, curriculum-based Indianapolis child care center. However, it’s her honest and sincere affection for children and their families that keeps her passionate and motivated. Rita’s ongoing labor of love results in caring, nurturing environments that use play to stimulate children:
- Socially—While playing with one friend or several, children learn valuable social skills. Teachers are always close by to guide children in positive communication, sharing and problem solving.
- Physically—Each facility features age-appropriate outdoor playgrounds as well as an indoor gymnasium for all-weather play. Gross-motor skills are encouraged through a combination of structured activities and free-play time.
- Emotionally—By fostering increased independence and mastery of self-help skills, children gain self confidence and self esteem that will serve them well throughout their education and life.
- Cognitively—Classroom are divided into learning centers filled with engaging, theme-based activities. Centers include art, blocks, dramatic play, home living, language, manipulatives, math and science, music and movement, sensory discovery, and more.
